Book of Memories for William Duell

In late 2010, I had sent letters to Bill and Joe Elic. My favorite film is "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", and I collect signatures on an original poster. Two days after sending the letters, I received a call from Joe, explaining that both he and Bill would love to meet me and sign my poster. Joe and Bill have been friends for decades, and they both lived in the city, so it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. A few months had gone by, and I remained in contact with Joe. After a vacation and an illness, I was able to make my way to New York on February 13. Bill showed me all of his original material from the "Cuckoo's Nest" days: letters from Michael Douglas, airline tickets, and filming schedules. I was in heaven. Bill insisted on signing my poster, despite having had a stroke several years prior that made it difficult. Their stories were great, and I will never forget their warmness. My thoughts go out to Mary, Joe, and the rest of their friends.

Joe and Bill were friends for decades, and I had the chance to speak with them about their careers on Feb 13, 2011. Bill invited us in to his apartment, and was a very nice man.

Dear Mary, My profound sorrow and heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, regarding the loss of your dear husband. I was very fond of him and admired his wonderful charm and gentle humor. I was so glad to have known him and shared such a lovely friendship with him during my time in NYC. I will cherish the memory of him and the time I spent putting our show together. I have some wonderful footage of him in rehearsal. Please let me know if you would need anything from me to assist you in a memorial tribute for his wonderful life and contributions in theater and film. 845-334-8385
