Condolences

Condolence From: Bradley Blackburn
Condolence: So very sorry to hear we have lost June. My deepest condolences to her family and all her many friends. I met June in 2004 when I received the NATAS Trustees' Scholarship as a high school student. When she found out this Texas kid was headed to New York for college, she took me under her wing, welcoming me to the big city with invitations to her home for parties and always taking time to share her advice and support. I loved her for her generosity -- and her candor. Once, I turned up at her apartment with a Christmas Poinsettia plant, whipped nearly unrecognizable by the wind and cold on my walk from the subway. "Looks a little shitty, doesn't it?" she told me with a laugh and a smile. What made June so special was that she really cared -- and kept in touch through the years with visits, calls and emails. Just last fall, I was so pleased when she called to congratulate me on an Emmy nomination. I was as proud to share with her as I was with my own parents. She was a remarkable woman who gave so much of herself to others, particularly to young people. I will truly miss her.

Condolence: I will never forget June. She very kindly and with remarkable finesse mentored me through the political channels of NATAS. She was equally generous to others. Her generosity of time and talent was matched only by the significant monetary contributions she made, endowing the NATAS Foundation in its nascient days. She was a lady who questioned authorrity but stood by her peers, and conducted her professional life with great diplomacy. She will not be forgotten.
