Condolence: Juan, Rest in peace! you were like my brother in far away land! It is very hard for me to express myself in English how exactly I am feeling. I will cherish all our memories together. All the fun days in lab. You taught me how to make poker face and hide my emotions. Trust me Juan this is very difficult time can't hide my emotions. May god give the strength to Amy and your family to cope. We were lucky to have you as friend. Baisakhi and Jahar

Amy, Unfortunately, we haven't had the chance to meet you. Be sure our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, We are sharing the burden of this great grief. May God bless you.

Condolence From: Virginia Issaris Seré
Condolence: The name "Manuel" means "God is with us" or "he that was sent to earth by God". And that was what Manuel was: an angel. He was the most cheerful, pure and kind person I have ever known. His smile, his twinkling eyes are still present in my mind as I write these words. It is difficult to accept the fact that God took him back to heaven so soon, for as selfish mortals we would have liked him to have stayed longer. There is not one day in which the thought of him having passed away doesn't trigger an endeless flood of tears, for him, for Amy and for Cristina, Jorge, Pablo, Martin and Antonio. May God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and wisdom to know the difference. I loved my dear cousin tremendously. I know he is watching us wherever he is. Amen.

Condolence From: Natalie Thon, CCF Nurse
Condolence: Though I only worked with Juan during his short time at CCF, he was certainly one of the kindest, most caring physicians I have ever worked with. I'm sure this comes as no surprise to his family- He always had a positive attitude, was always helpful and hard working. I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Amy, and all of his family.

Condolence From: Catalin Perju, MD
Condolence: I met Juan a while ago, when we worked together for almost two years in BTNC, Cleveland Clinic. We were born in the same year and same month, and we followed almost similar career pathways; when my former colleagues from Cleveland Clinic told me the sad news, I was shocked and I could not believe it.. Juan was a close friend and a very good colleague. I will always remember our morning coffees, our morning jokes, his warm and friendly personality. Juan was always there, when someone needed his help. This is the kind of memory we would all like to leave behind. But not so soon. Not so unfair. Dear Amy, my sincere condolences to you and Juan's family. Yours, Catalin Perju

Condolence: I only got to work with Juan for a short time, but it is clear that he made an impression on everyone who met him. The long line of people who came to pay their respects at his memorial ceremony all repeated the same thing: he was a singular human being, kind, dedicated, personable and selfless. My heart goes out to his family. He lives on in all of us, whenever we remember him.

Condolence From: Ivan DaSilva
Condolence: I am going to miss Juan a lot. He was a hard working, dedicated and compassionate doctor, but mainly he was a great friend. He was a very easy going person and the 6 months that we shared in the hospital looked like a lot more, as we rapidly developed a friendship. Since the first day that we met at CCF (during an orientation lecture) we found that we had a lot in common, even more after he told me he spent most of his life in Brazil, like me. I will miss his jokes, his smile and his way of making everything easier. I am sure he is in a great place now. Rest in peace, my friend, and hope to see you again.
